Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Rod Laver Arena was turned into Pink’s Funhouse last night for one of her many Australian concerts. There were fans dressed in pink clothes, pink hats and pink wigs. You could say it was a sea of pink from wall to wall.
The show began with a rockin’ cover of the ACDC classic Highway To Hell, but Pink and her band didn’t appear until half way through the song. Her band was finally revealed when a colorful backdrop was lifted and Pink was raised from an underground bunker in the middle of the arena.
The show was amazing. The stage was amazing. Pink was amazing! There was too much to take in because there was always several things going on onstage. At each end of the large stage two slides sat and during many songs Pink and her dancers kept us entertained.
One of the covers Pink and her band did was The Divinyls’ I Touch Myself. The arena went dark and Pink and a red couch were in the spotlight. As the song has a sexy nature, Pink was very raunchy with her vocals and movements. The crowd went absolute quiet during this performance. During her smash hit So What the dancers broke into a pillow fight while being in their underwear!
A surprise of the night was when Pink’s keyboardist/pianist started playing beautiful piano which broke into Family Portrait. Joining them was her violinist, making the song even more touching. Don’t Believe You, from her latest album Funhouse, sounded absolutely beautiful with a cello. Then the whole band did an acoustic set in the middle of the arena containing Crystal Ball.
Pink did a really different version of Led Zeppelin’s Ramble On. Then they leapt into the ultimate Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody when the entire arena sang.
At the start of the track Funhouse two giant blow-up dolls appeared at either side of the stage; an evil clown and an evil joker. From what I remember there were dancers dangling from the roof doing acrobatics as well as dancers on the ground.
The last song of the night was breathtaking and beautiful. It was Pink’s pretty Glitter In The Air and Pink was hanging from a sling doing twirls, swirls and God knows what! And she was singing while she was doing all of this, proving she’s really a superwoman.
Here’s the song list from last night’s concert:
Highway To Hell
Just Like A Pill
Who Knew
Habit To Myself
Touch Myself
Play Don’t Leave Me
U And Ur Hand
Leave Me Alone
So What
