The Time Machine Tour
Darren Hayes
Recorded in his home town Brisbane on the last night of his tour, The Time Machine Tour DVD captures Darren Hayes at his best.
Last year Darren released This Delicate Thing We’ve Made which contained two CD’s of lyrically rich and cleverly clear beats that took his listeners on a journey, sometimes to dark places but still keeping Darren’s positivity. During the concert he speaks of his past keeping with the time machine theme but admits he wouldn’t change a thing.
The Time Machine Tour had a theatrical feel to it. Darren wanted to tell his audience stories of love, loss, yearning, forgiveness and acceptance using lightning creating different moods according to each song.
Like with Savage Garden’s Affirmation tour, Darren got the legendary set designer Willie Williams to make an amazing show, including a giant neon origami bird, but somehow keeping intimacy with his audience on the night.
Mum and I were lucky to go to Darren’s Melbourne concert at Hammer Hall and we were totally in awe with Darren’s vocal capabilities. Watching the DVD I was impressed even more; his range is uncanny and he hits the correct pitch everytime.
I’m normally a pure rock chick, but for some reason I love Darren’s electronic sound. The Time Machine Tour DVD has an impressive twenty-two songs on it. The DVD definitely is worth a look.
The tracklisting:
1. A Fear Of Falling Under (Intro)
2. The Future Holds A Lion's Heart
3. Who Would Have Thought
4. Waking The Monster
5. How To Build A Time Machine
6. Neverland
