INXS with then lead singer, now J.D Fortune
Yesterday on the radio’s news report we thought we heard that INXS were going to perform at the Winter Olympics closing ceremony with J.D Fortune. We thought we heard wrong.

No, it really was happening according to INXS’ Facebook page.

Now the whole “he said, they said” saga has just even more intriguing and confusing.

On Facebook there’s an overwhelming swing towards wanting J.D back full-time. I have to agree with them.

INXS have an upcoming album of their classic hits with various guest singers. When I first heard that they were planning this, there was an eek factor about it. Instead of leaving their classics alone and moving forward, they want to cash in on the past. Michael Hutchence’s presence on these tracks will be erased, replaced with new interuptations and sounds. Don’t get me wrong, INXS should remember their old bandmate with their back catalogue, but not like this; not experimenting with different singers.

It’s going to get interesting to see if J.D will play a part in INXS’ future. Here’s a video of Disappear from the closing ceremony:

Remembering The Great Michael Hutchence

The great Michael Hutchence

On what would have been his 50th birthday, family, friends and fans are remembering the great Michael Hutchence.

Michael was one-of-a-kind rockstar. He had charisma, sex-appeal, a fantastic voice and a cheeky personality. He loved life and had a great time on this earth. He loved his bandmates who he called his brothers and they conquered the world with their band INXS. In January 1987 Need You Tonight became their first American number one hit and from then on INXS were a worldwide phenomenon.

The X London concert at Wimberley Stadium was captured on film and was released soon after on video and CD. Live Baby Live showed the band playing for 72,000 fans! A memorable quote from Michael on Live Baby Live was “This is the biggest pub we’ve ever played!”

Stairs from their ‘X’ release is one of my favourite INXS songs. The live version from Live Baby Live just gives me tingles every time I listen to it.

Happy birthday Michael!

George Announces More Australian Dates

December 4th 2009 04:03
George Michael, freedom, australian tour
George
Just last week our friends and us were seriously considering having a road trip to see George Michael in Sydney! Now the road trip is off because George is including Melbourne as well as Perth in his George Michael Live Australian Tour.

I’m sure there are people out there who remember singing along to George’s 1987 classic album Faith! It was very raunchy and full of sexuality, but to this ten year-old who knew every word of every song, Faith was just a great album!

In recent years my tastes have gone back to George. There’s something about his songs, old and new that is very appealing. You feel full of life listening to George! (yes I had a flashback of his Choose Life t-shirt then!)

Freedom ’90 would have to be one of my favourite George songs. It has this attitude about it where George stood up to the world saying this is who I am! Today a friend of mine joked that George May not be allowed to enter the country with his prior convictions. Personally I think there’s more than enough squeaky clean popstars in today’s society!

Here are the tour dates for George’s 2010 Australian Tour:

A Structured Arias

How lame were the Arias last night? It was cringeworthy at the best of times. That Gyton Grantley just did my head in with his fake over-the-top enthusiasm. It was like watching an episode of Playschool!

Until last night I was totally against having Robbie Williams perform and present at OUR music awards, but the sad thing was him and Rove were the most natural presenters there and they weren’t wankery at all

A family friend said to check a Sydney band called Tainted Toys out on Myspace. I was hesitant as his taste in music is a little warped

Michael Jackson
When I found out that Jackson had died, it was very bizarre. I found myself questioning the whole scenario. You know the heart attack, then the drugs. For someone who loved his children so much, to me the situation is hard to fathom. However, Jackson was a very different human being, one that we may never come to understand.

Around five years of age I was a big Jackson fan. I had pictures of him contacted to my tray. I remember being so distraught when his hair caught fire and being absolutely petified watching the Thriller video! He was definitely a clever man who created a different medium in music videos

Strange Week in Music

June 18th 2009 09:53
The start of the week began with the excitement of an upcoming Keith Urban Australian tour (well this was exciting for me anyway!) I’m counting down the days to the 29th when the tickets for his Melbourne show go on sale.

john farnham
John Farnham
Meanwhile tickets for John Farnham’s “By Demand” tour are selling like there’s no tomorrow!! My Aunty looked up the ticket prices and they start at $129.00…at The Palais!!! That’s insane! Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes is doing a show there in July and his tickets are $80.00! John is one of Australia’s best performers, but I’m scratching my head about his ticket prices

Jon Gives Jovi a Bad Name

When I read on Undercover.com.au that an all-girl Bon Jovi tribute band were being sued by Jon Bon Jovi because they dared to call themselves Blonde Jovi I couldn’t believe Jon was that up himself and petty.

Now the tribute band has to change their name to something that hasn’t the word ‘Jovi’ in it. Also they have been told to cease using the Jovi logo “heart and dagger

I'm Back

I’m very happy to be back after having no internet access for almost three weeks. Sorry to my frequent readers who have been wondering why no posts. The reasonably being was that we moved so we had to wait until last Thursday night when Telstra delivered our new modem, then as my desktop had no wireless card we had to get one installed. As always with my computers there was a dramas with that. But I’m back now!

In March I will have lots of concert reviews to post. These include Coldplay, Eric Clapton and A Day On The Green at Rochford Wines in Victoria’s Yarra Valley with Jimmy Barnes, Ross Wilson, The Badloves and Kasey Chambers with Shane Nicholson
