Diesel at Cornish Arms

Diesel at Cornish Arms
Diesel played only acoustic guitars last night but the crowd was electric. The Cornish Arms was packed from door to door with people aged in their late teens to those in their 40’s. The crowd came to see an Aussie legend and Diesel sure did deliver a show which was legendary, and will be remembered as one of his best performances.
From the moment Diesel stepped onto the stage he encouraged the Melbourne crowd to give him all they had. In return he not only sang his heart out and wowed everyone with his guitar talents, but he stayed onstage for over 90 minutes.
From his recently released Singled Out CD he masterly performed, in no particular order:
Don't Need Love
Everybody's Talkin'
Tip Of My Tongue
One More Time
Soul Revival
15 Feet Of Snow
All Come Together
Darling Of The Universe
Come To Me
Cry In Shame
Faith & Gasoline
His long-time fans would know that Diesel loves Ottis Redding. After getting the already involved crowd’s permission to do some Ottis Diesel sang Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay, then some time after he sang I’ve Been Loving You Too Long. When he sang Still Got A Long Way To Go which he wrote for Jimmy Barnes’ Flesh And Wood album, he encouraged the crowd to sing the chorus especially when he was “whailing” at the song’s end.
The ultimate highlight of the night was when he turned his guitar into a bongo during Come To Me. This was amazing to watch and the crowd went totally nuts over this!
After almost thirteen years being a fan of Diesel’s, watching last night’s performance made me proud. He is one of Australia’s finest singer/songwriter/guitarist and like a fine wine he’s only getting better with age!
