Let's Get Together with Jon Stevens and Ian Moss
May 5th 2008 07:23
And special guests Tania Doko and Irwin Thomas (aka Jack Jones)
Southport RSL, QLD
April 26 2008
There was no better way to celebrate the Anzac long weekend that to go to a RSL where you saw four brilliant Aussie acts performing on the same stage.
Jon Stevens and Ian Moss have joined forces and are traveling around Australia as part of the Let’s Get Together tour. Joining them are Tania Doko who was the lead singer of Bachelor Girl and Irwin Thomas (aka Jack Jones). Irwin was the lead singer of the 90’s band Southern Sons and he and Tania and also are in the electronic band called She Said Yes. You can visit She Said Yes on Myspace www.myspace.com/shesaidyesband
Tania with Irwin on Acoustic guitar opened with Treat Me Good which was one of Bachelor Girl’s hits. She admitted it has been a while since touring as she is now a youth worker, but she’s loving doing it (touring) with the boys. The mate ship between her and Irwin could be easily seen as they joked constantly with each other and seemed to having a great time. After performing Bachelor Girl’s big hit Buses and Trains where she urged the audience to sing the chorus, Tania left the stage for Irwin to take over.
Irwin took the audience down memory lane by opening his set with Always and Ever, which is one of the first songs he wrote. His voice is as powerful as ever which the audience responded to. Heart In Danger was another old favorite, he also performed songs from his latest release Disconnected. You can purchase Disconnected from his Myspace page www.myspace.com/irwinthomas69
When Jon Stevens and his two guys on Acoustic guitars came on stage, the room’s noise level increased dramatically. Going against a security guard’s wishes Jon encouraged the audience to flock towards the standing area in front of the stage. Jon was having some fun with his set list as he threw in Jesus Christ Superstar and the audience had to sing the chorus followed by a few Noiseworks classics, Irwin Thomas came back on stage to play guitar during Hot Chilli Woman. Jon announced to the audience that there will be a new Noiseworks album out later this year, can’t wait.
Ian Moss… What is left to say? When you hear him sing and play guitar you get goose bumps, you know that you’re witnessing an Aussie Icon, a legend! Joining Mossy on stage were a drummer and cellist, complementing Mossy’s hits such as Telephone Booth and Tucker’s Daughter. Mossy went back in time to Cold Chisel days and did the favorite Saturday Night and the haunting Choir Girl. He ended the night with an encore of Bow River.
